Commute Times
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 7, 2025
This policy explains what data exists inside Commute Times, where it resides, and how it stays secure. Commute Times provides driving and walking ETAs; it does not collect personal information or store your precise location outside your own Apple ecosystem.
1. Where Your Data Lives
Saved locations, favorites, and app settings stay only on your Apple devices.
Optional sync occurs through your personal iCloud Drive. No data is copied to the developer’s servers or shared outside Apple’s iCloud system.
Real-time location used for ETAs is transient. It is never written to disk or backed up.
2. Encryption and Apple Security
All iCloud files are encrypted at rest and in transit.
Local files sit inside the encrypted sandbox that iOS and macOS provide.
Access relies on your Apple ID plus your device passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID. Commute Times never sees or stores your biometrics or Apple ID credentials.
3. Location and Network Usage
The app requests “While Using the App” location permission so it can calculate current ETAs.
Location data is processed on device, used for the calculation, and then discarded. It is not stored or transmitted.
Route times come from Apple Maps and may require an internet connection, but only anonymous map requests are sent. No personal data accompanies these requests.
4. On-Device Processing
All commute calculations and sorting happen on your device.
No raw location, address book, or other personal data leaves your device except through your own iCloud sync.
5. Children’s Privacy
Commute Times is intended for users aged 18 or the local age of majority.
Because data never leaves the Apple ecosystem, no external repository of children’s data exists.
6. Your Responsibility
Protect your Apple ID and devices. Someone with access to an unlocked device or iCloud credentials could view your saved locations.
Deleting a location inside the app removes it from the device and, after Apple’s standard deletion window, from iCloud. Uninstalling the app removes all local data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy. Continued use of Budget Notepad after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
